Are you are searching for Christmas craft gifts for children? Although by searching, I think what I really mean, is sifting! That’s certainly how it feels to me when looking – the market for craft gift sets, and creative play ideas for children has exploded in recent years. Meaning with so much choice, comes the new problem of working out which ones are any good and will actually be played with more than once!
I’ve experienced this a lot – my daughter is very creative and loves trying new crafts and activities, meaning we have tried many different things. Some are brilliant and come out time and time again, others not so much!

The Top Model series is by far the best colouring and creative sets I’ve seen for children who are into style and fashion. There are lots of different varieties and as well as containing stickers to dress up the models, there are sheets of different patterned paper and stencils, so the children can cut out and create their own designs. Lastly there are also tutorials in the book to show them how to shade and colour to get different effects. This make up Top Model book was from the gift website Wicked Uncle, full of fun and unusual presents for children. My daughter has had so many of these books over the last couple of years and the big piles of completed model pictures and creations all over her bedroom are proof of how much use these get
Paint By Number Christmas Gifts
These beautiful sets by Ravensburger are what I would describe as next level painting by numbers. They have a huge range of pictures to choose from, including typography and slogans for older children and the animal sets such as the polar bear have a set of high quality acrylic paints to use as well as glitter.
These rainbow scratch art pads have 40 pages of matte black sheets that are revealed when you use the scratching tools included. These are currently only £4.99 from ABEEC toys and would make a great stocking filler.
Kinetic Sand
We have had lots of these sets and even though my daughter is a little bit older now, so doesn’t play with them so often, she still enjoys playing with Kinetic sand kits. They are an easy way for kids to have some creative messy play, where it doesn’t get too messy. By that, you will probably still need to get the hoover out afterwards but it doesn’t take half as much time to clear up as playdough or painting can. I also quite like joining in with this as an adult too when my daughters got it out – there’s something very therapeutic about kneading and sculping the putty like sand and feeling it drip through your fingers. As an adult making jewellery is such a specialist skill, yet now, you can get special sets for children too. Charm jewellery UK have lots of different sets to make their own jewellery. We had one of their unicorn sets earlier in the year, that was really well received in our house with so much choice and different accessories. It kept my little girl entertained for ages with lots of different charms and beads to put together. These sets are available to buy in Argos.
