What to Buy the Dad Who Has Everything, A Father’s Day Gift Guide

This is a collaborative post

I know it’s a total cliché but it’s a true one, dads really are notoriously hard to buy for. So with Father’s Day coming up, I thought I’d pull together some ideas for the dad, granddad, or special male figure in your life, whether you’re stuck for inspiration or just looking for something a bit more considered than a last-minute card and a box of chocolates.

For the Foodie Dad

If you’ve got a foodie man in your life, I always think buying gifts around cooking is a bit of a win win, because you get to enjoy the fruits of their labour too. There’s something really satisfying about gifting something that ends up on the dinner table for everyone.

One gift I’d really recommend at the moment for a dad who loves food is anything from the Stanley Tucci collection, and if you’ve been watching his recent TV series you’ll know exactly what I mean. He just has this wonderful way of combining a love of food, travel and storytelling that makes everything he does feel really watchable and warm. His books have that same quality. He has various cookbooks and memoirs, and his most recent, What I Ate in One Year, is part travel log, part food diary. If the dad in your life has been enjoying Stanley Tucci on the TV lately, I think one of his books would make a really thoughtful and personal gift.

Another thing I always think you can’t go wrong with for a foodie dad is Ninja, because so many men love a gadget and Ninja do this so well. I can personally recommend the slushie machine and the ice cream maker, both of which have been a big hit in our house. My husband has loved experimenting with different recipes and the kids and I have very much enjoyed reaping the rewards. Either of these would make a really fun Father’s Day gift, and with summer coming up the timing couldn’t be better.

For the Active Dad

When it comes to gifting for sporty dads, the options are almost endless, but one that feels like a classic for good reason is golf. In my experience, if a man gets into golf, he really gets into golf, completely immersing himself in the equipment, the gadgets, the courses and yes, very much the clothing too.

And speaking of golf clothing, it has had a complete reinvention over the last ten years. Gone are the days of the slightly unfortunate middle-aged geek aesthetic, and in its place is actually some really genuinely cool and stylish sportswear. There are loads of great options out there now and it’s become a gift that works really well even if you’re not sure exactly what they need, because there’s always something fun and bright to to add to a golf wardrobe.

adidas have some brilliant golf clothing right now, with the golf shorts alone coming in nine different colours including some really striking peach and green options that feel very of the moment. They’ve also got some really fun polo shirts with different prints, golf shoes, and water repellent wind quarter zip sweatshirts which are exactly the kind of practical but stylish thing a golfer actually gets a lot of use out of. You can browse the full range of golf clothing on the adidas website which is well worth a look if you’ve got a golfer in your life.

And if golf isn’t quite his thing, adidas have a fantastic range of rugby boots that would be a brilliant gift ahead of next season, or if you’ve got a really outdoorsy, adventurous man, their climbing shoes are well worth a look too.

And if you’re still looking for more inspiration, adidas have a dedicated Father’s Day gifts page with plenty more ideas to browse.

For the Big Kid at Heart

If none of the above quite fits, then how about appealing to the big kid inside every dad and buying them some Lego? I think Lego has become one of those genuinely brilliant adult gifts because the sets have become so impressive and so varied that there really is something for everyone.

The one that really caught my eye this year is the football World Cup themed sets, which I think are absolutely perfect for any football fan with the upcoming competition on the horizon. There’s something really lovely about the idea of a dad sitting down to build his World Cup trophy while watching the matches.
