What It’s Really Like Visiting Lighthouse Dental Practice in Ipswich

This is a collaborative post

For busy mums, with the ever present mental load looming, finding time to look after ourselves, can often fall further and further down the to-do list. It isn’t just the nice to haves anymore either, with so many women juggling home, families and work everyday, even medical routine check ups can get pushed back and down the priorities too.

It’s something I’m certainly guilty of and once missed, if something isn’t urgent, I can totally lose track and forget. This is true for me, when it comes to the dentist. My local practice closed a while ago now and finding another with space fell further and further down the list. So when Lighthouse Practice got in touch, it was brilliant timing.

I went over to visit the practice for a checkup and the first thing I noticed was the warm family feel when I stepped through the doors. Despite it being a dentist, it manages to miss feeling harsh and overly sterile, with their comfy seating more fitting in a lounge and friendly reception staff at the door ready to greet you. It helps that the clinic is in a converted house too, where there is even a pretty garden with seating at the back, that nervous patients especially, often choose to wait in for their appointment.

Visiting Lighthouse Dental Practice

Upon arrival I filled out a standard medical form and then went through to my appointment. The dentist and nurse were friendly and reassuring from the offset . Dr Tocca took time to talk to me before and after doing anything, explaining everything he was doing. I should probably note here that I’m not the best dental patient- going to an appointment has always made me nervous and I have to admit my pain fresh hold is embarrassingly low! But despite, this the appointment felt relaxed and more informed than I’ve experienced before.

After the initial examination and X-rays I sat at the screens and everything was talked through (in layman’s terms, so I understood) with different options presented for the work I need doing.

When chatting with Dr Tocca something else I found refreshing was his take on the importance and availability of cosmetic dentistry too. It’s a big part of their service and their treatments are very well regarded, yet he was keen to stress that their focus as a practice is health over aesthetics, with treatment only being given if it’s the right fit for the patient. Not just simply because it’s something they can do. It’s certainly far more than a financial transaction. They seem to truly care about their patients and always consider what’s best for them now and in the long run too.

This care is also demonstrated with the work that Lighthouse Dental practice take part in, within the wider Suffolk region too. They partner with Ipswich Town Foundation to promote healthy oral health to children, as well as extensive voluntary work within the Suffolk community collaborating with schools to teach children and young people about looking after their teeth. This is also just the beginning for Lighthouse, with more plans underway for how they can further support the people of their local area.
