Top Toy & Activity Advent Calendars & Advent Calendars for Adults

Is it just me, or does it feel like Advent Calendars are EVERYWHERE this year! I can’t get over the amount of choice and non chocolate options. I’ve always welcomed starting each day with chocolate, the kids too, BUT then I also love trying something new, and when there’s so many temptations out there, I couldn’t resist getting some really special ones this year.

If you’re looking for a different way to mark off advent, I thought I’d share the ones that caught my eye. From beauty gifts or a daily tipple, to some beautiful bunting with activities for the kids. If you’re looking for inspo, I’ve popped my favourites below…

Activity Advent Calendars for Children

The Panda Party company has put together an advent calendar bunting, with an act of kindness for each day. Such a lovely idea. Plus, it’s a really gorgeous  monochrome design. They have kindly offered one for us to try, so can’t wait to hang it up over the mantel piece. With all the consumerism of December, it will be the perfect tonic for the kids to also have a little daily reminder to be kind. You can find out all about them in their Etsy shop right here. And, don’t worry if you’re a bit last minute, they are downloadable so you all you’ll need to do, is print it out.

Another activity calendar that really caught my eye on Instagram, was this daily scratch off Christmas tree. Behind each circle is an activity and again it has a really pretty design and it can even be personalised. The website is called By Alex and she has lots of other Christmassy bits too here.

Toy Advent Calendars 2019

We have had Lego advent calendars before and although they were met with a lot of excitement, both of my two, lost the enthusiasm for making them about half way through December. I think, because they are not really that into Lego, they weren’t quite right for them. So, this years, I’ve gone for both of their first loves. Albert has a football based advent calendar, with a pack of Match Attaxs behind each window. He’s really excited about and it was easy to get, as they are selling them in our local Sainsburys.

Rose absolutely loves LOL Surprise dolls, so I’ve got her one of those and that came from Argos. If you have Frozen fans, I saw they had really nice Frozen 2 calendars with little Anna and Elsa dolls on the Disney Store website too.

Lots of different ones to choose in Marks and Spencers this year, from rolling chocolate sprouts to this Percy Pig sweety option.

Calendars for Adults

I’m normally very happy with my chocolate one, but this year I’ve gone for a beauty calendar, and although they cost quite a bit, you do end up getting so much more for your money in the amount of products you get to try throughout the month. Iain bought me this one online, but I did see Fenwicks in Colchester also have a beauty calendar, this year.

Saw these in QD Stores and they really made me smile. For £5 you can get an Airwick advent calendar, love it!

So many booze options around, I know the wine one always sells out quick in Aldi, so they are probably long gone, but there were lots of the Fever Tree gin ones in Waitrose this week. For £60 you get a gin one day and a tonic the next, so a nice little way to treat yourself throughout the month.

What do you do for advent? We have calendars and an elf on the shelf but always looking for new things to try! I’d love to know how you celebrate the run up to Christmas?
