With the summer holidays nearly here, our calendar is starting to get filled up, with days out and family events where we will be outside whatever the weather. So, when Rydale recently got in touch, asking if Rose would like to sample some of their new children’s collection, she was very excited to get kitted out by this fab British brand.
Known for their stylish but also practical clothing, established in 1954, Rydale are synonymous with the British country side. They offer clothes that are perfect for days spent exploring and enjoying our beautiful British landscape, rain or shine.
It was a tricky job choosing from all the great designs in the children’s section, but Rose couldn’t resist the pink Breton polo and a cable knit jumper in her favourite colour purple. They have a large range of polo shirts for children full of bright pops of colour and fun polo team designs. The delivery was quick and I was impressed with the quality. Both the polo shirts and cable knits are 100% cotton and the junior cable knit jumper was a lovely relaxed fit. My little girl has enjoyed dressing them up with a skirt and also wearing them casually over jeans on colder days. There are a number of cable knit colours to choose from including three different shades of blue, plus pink and purple.
What’s Rydale Clothing Sizing Like?
I don’t know about you, but with sizing often varying so much from shop to shop, I find it a bit hit and miss when knowing what size to choose when ordering from a brand for the first time. I always think its good to have a bit of room to grow, but I’m also not one for having my children walking round in baggy outfits that drown them just so they can last longer.
So for reference, here’s how we found the Rydale children’s collection. Rose is a little tall for her age, but other than that a pretty average size. Being on the taller side of 7 years old I thought the 7-8 age clothes might be a big snug and so I sized up. There’s not an 8-9 option, so I got age 9-10 for the polo and jumper and although they are roomy, they both fit well. The jumper actually comes up in a really nice relaxed fit that looks far better in real life than these photos. Price wise, if I hadn’t looked I would have guessed both items were far more expensive than they are. The polo shirts are £14.99 and the junior cable knit jumpers are currently in the sale, so only £9.99 down from their normal price of £15.
Talking about their children’s range, Rydale describes what makes their kids collection so special:
“Our range of Children’s country clothing features the ‘mini me’ element, with many of our designs mimicking the Men’s and Ladies ranges. From classic country shirts and perfectly tailored equestrian clothes to tweed jackets and waistcoats, we have perfected their country look down to a tee. Combining practicality, style and durability in one to create the very best of kids clothing. Dress them head-to-toe in Rydale, with jackets, shirts, footwear and accessories, ideal for kicking about in the country or saving for best.”
We were also offered a pair of wellies and again my little girl found it difficult to choose from all the different options in the range including flowers, diggers, dinosaurs and galloping horse designs. Rose loved her floral choice with a hot pink trim and they have already gone through and passed the muddy puddle test, keeping her dry despite lots of jumping and splashing.
