Reasons Why You Can’t Sleep and What You Can Do About It
This is a collaborative post
Do you feel as though you are unable to sleep? If so then now is the time for you to do something about that. If you can’t sleep then this can have consequences on your health and you may even find that you end up not being able to focus as much during the day too. Over time, you may find that this ends up impacting your career but all of this can be avoided if you take the time to focus on your sleep issues right now.
Bedtime Habits
Sometimes what you do before you go to bed can impact your general ability to fall asleep. If you take a nap during the day, or even in the evening then this can make it difficult for you to sleep. Other potential sleep issues happen to include taking naps during the day. If you can’t sleep at night then you may find that this builds up and that you end up struggling to stay awake in the day. If you want to do something about this then make sure that you don’t do any exercise closer to your bedtime and that you don’t eat a big meal hours before your bedtime either. If you can do this and if you can avoid engaging in screen time then this will help you out more than you realize.

Caffeine
While eating or drinking products that contain a lot of caffeine is fine during the day, you have to remember that if you do this too close to bedtime then this can be problematic. It will give you an energy boost and it will also make you feel more awake too. You can feel the impact of this for up to six hours after. If you have a caffeinated beverage within six hours of your bedtime then the caffeine can interfere with your ability to go to sleep and keep it that way. If you want to do something about this then one thing you can do is try and consume decaffeinated coffee instead. This is a great way for you to make sure that you are getting the taste of coffee without having the buzz from it.
Chronic Pain
Individuals who have chronic pain, which is pain that often lingers beyond three months or more, may find that they don’t get as much sleep as they could. Chronic pain may result in you having a hard time falling asleep and it can also result in decreased functioning. If you want to do something about this then one thing you need to do is try and talk with your doctor. When you do, you can then have a chat with them about all of the things that are bothering you so you can feel confident knowing that you are not going to be left struggling when you just don’t need to. Things like this can also help you to get to the bottom of any health issues you may have, so keep that in mind.
