Keeping Cool in Style: A Review of Pretty You London’s Bamboo Viscose Pyjamas

With the UK already on its third heatwave of the summer, keeping cool and sleeping has become a bit of a battle for me. Normally, what I wear is always more fashion over function, yet I’ve noticed a real difference recently in the types of fabrics I choose and the impact they have in this heat. I’m not just talking about wearing fewer layers; the actual material of my clothing is having an effect on how I cope with the warmer weather.

So when Pretty You London got in touch and offered me a pair of their pyjamas to review, I jumped at the chance. They arrived recently and with another heatwave hitting (and my Victorian house feeling more like a tropical greenhouse, honestly, walking upstairs feels like stepping off a plane in Spain!), I’ve really been putting them to the test.

Now, I won’t claim they’re a magic solution and that I was no longer affected by the heat, but I did notice a difference. They felt much nicer and cooler against my skin than my usual nightwear. The fabric is soft, lightweight, and drapes beautifully without clinging, and the loose fit added to that breezy comfort. They also feel really well made, a quality product from the stitching to the details.

In fact, I’ve enjoyed wearing them so much, they’ve now become my go-to lounge outfit. When I’ve finished my day and I’m ready to flop on the sofa, these are what I reach for. They just feel nice.

Style and look are always important to me too, and I have to confess, it took me ages to choose from the Pretty You London nightwear collection. They have so many lovely pieces in soft, muted pastels and elegant shapes.

I eventually chose the shorts and shirt set in a dusky pink and black stripe, which the website describes as having a “flattering silhouette, a contrasting satin bow to the shorts, and a classic design with a comfort tailored revere collar.” Made from bamboo viscose, the set is also hypoallergenic, anti-bacterial, breathable, natural, and thermoregulating, all big plus points in my book. As someone who struggles to find shorts that feel flattering over my (sizable!) thighs, I genuinely agree, they strike the perfect balance of loose and cool but fitted enough to feel stylish.
