Free & Cheap Things to do with Children in Sudbury, Suffolk

Sudbury has so much to offer for families, There’s so much going on in our town for a cheap day out with the kids.

If you are searching for free days out in Suffolk, here’s my top fun things to do in Sudbury with children….

The Talbot Trail, Sudbury, Suffolk

If you’ve ever wondered what the red posts you see dotted around town are –  It’s the Talbot Trail. The bronze sculptures tell the story of Sudbury’s rich historical heritage. Collect a map at Sudbury Library and you can follow the trail around the town, learning interesting facts about Sudbury’s history on the way. I did this with my children last summer and they loved it. A year on and my little girl still often points out the different characters when she see’s them, as we go through the town.

Pottery Painting at the Bridge Project, Sudbury, Suffolk

Do your children love painting, but you dread the mess? Then the Bridge Project is a lovely option for a cheap activity to do with children in Suffolk. I’m always surprised at how cheap the pottery is to decorate. They also serve great cake! There’s lots of different items to choose from.Animals & ornaments to mugs, bowls and even money boxes. Enjoy some quality time with your little ones, while supporting a wonderful community project. Just make sure to ring and book – It can get busy in the holidays.

Belvue Park, Cornard Road, Sudbury, Suffolk, C010 2RG

Belvue park is an obvious one for free days out in Sudbury, but I just couldn’t make a list without including it. We spend a lot of time here. There’s so much to do for children of all ages. Its a great one to set up a base and spend all morning or afternoon with a picnic.

There are different play areas to enjoy, including an obstacle course and a giant sand pit with 3 climbing frames for different ages. There’s tennis courts, lawn for a kick about and a skate and scooter park. On sunny days and holidays there’s also a café hut serving cheap ice creams and drinks. The zip wire is also handily positioned near the exit, so you can bribe the kids to leave with the promise of a go, on the way out.

How about a snow drop walk? So many to choose from all over the country.

A Quid a Kids at Cornard Sports Centre

We only discovered this recently, you can take the children along to Cornard Sports centre on Saturdays to try lots of different sports for only £1. You just need to ring on the day to book your hour spot, but there’s badminton, table tennis, basketball and more. Great for a rainy day, when the kids are getting cabin fever and need to run around.

Children’s Activities at Sudbury Library

There are a couple of different sessions run by Sudbury Library that are great to pop along to if you are in town at the weekends. Lego Club runs every Saturday, 14.30-16.00. Its 50p per session including refreshments. You can follow the Lego theme of the week or come up with your own creation. There’s also a drop in craft session on a Sunday for primary aged children that runs from 11.00-12.30.

Children’s Craft Workshops And Messy Play In Suffolk

As well as selling beautiful gifts, the lovely gift shop Duck in Boots has a small studio where children can go and do all sorts of crafts. There’s a calendar of scheduled craft & cooking events, but also many activities you can choose from on the day. It does get busy though, so its a good idea to book ahead.

Soft Play In Sudbury, Suffolk

How about a day at soft-play? The kids will be spoilt for choice with a large three tiered play frame with slides, toddler village, and of course ball pools! There’s different areas for different ages, with a room for under 2’s, and different sections for under and over 5’s.
