Easter Family Days out and Egg Hunts in Ipswich, Colchester, Bury St Edmunds and Sudbury

As soon as those first sights of Spring appear, daffodils peaking through on the roadside, a sunny day warm enough to hang my washing outside, anything that teases the promise of warm days and I start planning. After a long Winter with kids cooped upside, I’m always to eager to book lots of days out in the Easter Holidays. Whether that’s Easter egg hunts in Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds, visiting Colchester Zoo or experiencing the Spring Olympics near Ipswich at a Suffolk family farm – I love that Easter is the time of year that our region comes back to life after the winter tourist hibernation. So many East Anglian family attractions open their doors again for the season at the start of the Easter holidays, so there’s often so many special days out to experience locally.

Here’s my round up of the best Easter days out and egg hunts in Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich, Sudbury and Colchester in the 2026 Easter holidays…

Nowton Park Easter Egg Hunt

Often Nowton park have trail sheets you can buy from the cafe, to then work your way through around the park whenever you wish, but I haven’t seen these advertised this time for Easter, but what they are putting on looks far more interesting. For Easter 2026 they have put on an actual easter egg hunt in the park on Wednesday 1st April 2026 and Thursday 2nd April 2026. Again this is one you need to book in advance – Nowton Park Easter Hunt.
