For independent brands, sometimes taking that leap to specialise and niche down can be a risky one, but when the drive to go down this path is routed in a passion and belief to drive a message forward – if the talents are there to accompany it, it can achieve amazing results. Jana Reinhardt is one such brand. Their delicate hand crafted animal creations are stunning. With the maker’s passion and love of animals shining through in the intricate, stunning pieces they produce.
The company was initially started by Jana, who was then joined by her husband Ross in 2020. Both are experienced goldsmiths with previous successful careers working for other jewellery brands. They then came together to pursue their passions of not only creating their own designs, but also promoting and building awareness of animal causes close to their heart.
The founder Jana in her own words explains how their jewellery pieces are about so much more than the aesthetic:
“While making beautiful pieces that you’ll treasure for years to come remains a top priority, there’s so much more to the jewellery we create than the aesthetic. We also hope to change and challenge people’s perceptions of animals and stimulate conversation around how we treat other species and the world around us, one piece of jewellery at a time. “
There is a huge variety of pieces to choose from, encompassing all sorts of species: from baboons, hedgehogs and mice, to an extensive ocean collection, including manta ray’s turtles and even whales. The company also has a strong sustainable ethos. This includes donating £20 from each sale of 11 different designs to animal welfare charities, plus they are passionate that every piece created is handmade as sustainably as possible. This includes using 100% recycled silver or solid gold, plastic-free packaging and offsetting their carbon output.
